PROGRAM GOALS
As more students with autism spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s are entering middle and high school environments, educators and related professionals are challenged with creating effective learning opportunities in regular education classrooms. The Autism Project has invited a group of local educational professionals to share their experiences in developing and implementing successful programs in the identified areas.

INSTRUCTORS
Dorothy Lucci, M.Ed. C.A.G.S., Director of Consultation Services at Mass General Hospital’s YouthCare, is a national consultant and speaker who brings over 30 years experience specializing in individuals with ASD. She is certified as a school psychologist and has extensive background in neuropsychology. Dot has numerous publications in the field and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Asperger’s Association of New England (AANE) and an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School at Lesley University and Antioch College. Recently, she co-authored a curriculum entitled Think Smart Feel Good.
Sue Constable, M.A., Coordinator for the Autism Support Center, with the Rhode Island Technical Assistance Project at RI College and the Department of Education, offers state wide support to individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
Cheryl Cotter, M.Ed., is a Special Educator and the Director of Consultation Services at The Autism Project, and also the parent of a teen with Asperger. Cheryl conducts trainings and consults to classrooms, community organizations, and parent groups across the state.
Susan Stevenson, M.Ed., Director of ASD Connections & Brook Reid, L.M.H.C., Team Leader of ASD Connections for Gateway Healthcare are experienced professionals in supporting individuals with ASD who are experiencing mental health and substance abuse difficulties.
Lisa Beaudoin-Colwell, Ed.D. Director of Special Education for Cumberland Schools, has conducted research in co-teaching and has supported the development of a continuum of programs for individuals with ASD through the school system.
Theresa Curran, M.A. Director of Transition & Vocational Services at the West Bay Collaborative & Nancy Stevenin, Transition Coordinator for the Providence Regional Transition Center have been designing and implementing a wide array of transition supports for students in RI.
Jason Masterson, Ed.D. Candidate, is Vice Principal in N.Cumberland Middle School. He has been involved in several initiatives, including Positive Behavioral Supports (PBIS), Response to Intervention (RTI), and in developing systems of thinking and assisting the principal in building leadership capacity.
